Very nice book! Well written and interesting reading , especially because my mom's side of the family was from an island off the coast of Portland Maine and I spent a lot of time there. I now live in Hampton roads Virginia so many of the areas referenced in the book I am very familiar with. I only wish the book was longer.

Great records
I was hesitant to read this book because I am not that into maritime stories, but living in New England for 4 years now I felt I should know a bit about the history. Once I started I could not put it down. The author captivated the time of the schooners and lives of the crew. Details that I could never have imagined brought the book to life. Well worth reading - historical and full of color.
This book is fascinating, educational and brilliant. The author, Ingrid Grenon, brings you into the crews lives, their struggles in many areas and, of bringing their families onboard the schooners. The author also interjects her own family experiences allowing this book to be a page turner and not the ususal "dry" history so many books of this type have. I highly recommend this book and would like to see it used in schools as an educational tool.
