About the Author

In the early 1940s, a loving father crafted a small blue wooden engine for his son, Christopher. The stories that this father, Reverend W. I was REALLY disappointed in this book. It is only a few pages - shorter even than most board books. The story is extremely basic and not of much interest. Very poor value for the money.This book is a very sturdy, and it does have small bits of the pages that glow in the-dark.I would give it 2 stars, but my son does like the book, so I gave it three.

I will give this book 3 stars only because my 2 year old loves anything Thomas related however, the only thing that hardly glows in the dark is the moon...seems kind of pointless since you need to sit in the dark to see the glow but then can't read the book. It's also maybe 5 pages in total.It's past Thomas' bedtime and he can't sleep.He sees a shooting start and decides to get a closer look.He asks the owl if he saw the shooting star and the owl says no.He sees a light in the distance but realizes it Percy's lamp.Thomas is now sleepy and heads back to his shed.Good night Thomas.That's the book.

Though any kid will love anything with Thomas and Percy in it, I was very disappointed. This book is far below the quality of other Thomas books. The story is very short; with short sentences. This has to be a knock off. Plus, it doesn't glow in the dark - apparently, you have to hold it in bright lights to get it to glow. It would have been nice to have been prepared for that. I'm going to return it.

I read reviews of the story being bad and thought, "its a kids book, so how bad could it be?" Well Thomas sees a shooting star, goes out to look for another one, gets tired and goes back to go to sleep. The End. Wow, it is really terrible. Of course, the LO loves Thomas, so it stays, but I have never read a worse story, even for a kids book.

this book is a bust. i was already scratching my head at the way it "read" and then just as you're falling into the "story line" it's over. bam! i was left looking for evidence of missing pages while my 3 yr old grandson looked just as confused as i. he even asked me if i was going to finish the book. smh. the only reason i rated it 2 stars was prompt delivery and the glow in the dark aspect (which even that is a bust in my opinion due to the length of time it takes to "charge" it under a light just to have it disappear time you turn the page). absolutely would not recommend this book to anyone.

My 2 year old loves the book, but as a parent, the story is pretty thin. Thomas sees a star, looks for it, thinks he sees it, but it's Percy's light out making mail deliveries, so Thomas goes back to his shed to sleep. I'm not expecting Shakespeare, but an extra page of story development would help. I honestly thought that pages were stuck together and I missed a plot point. But again, that's me. And my son loves it, so 4 stars.

Many people comment that this story is awful and it's as though pages are missing and they are right. This story is ridiculously short and inane. What's more is that it is merely a shortened version of "Thomas and the Shooting Star" which actually has a moral and a complete story. The climax of this story is Thomas deciding it's too much work to keep going and deciding to give up. Great message! That being said my three sons still enjoy this and that is what really counts, despite the fact that it drives my wife and I nuts each and every time we read it to them. My advice, for what it's worth, ignore the glow in the dark aspects, get the other book.

My 2 yr old grandson loves anything about Thomas but this book is not more than a few pictures. There is virtually no story. I embellish it a lot when I read it to him because it's so short and without a real story line. Glow-in-the-dark is a joke; only the moon very faintly glows. I would definitely not recommend this book. Very disappointing.

It's Thomas so the kid likes it but it's a super simple book and the glow in the dark effect works, but would be nearly impossible to have the whole book activated at once. So the front cover or whatever page you have open will be activated but not all pages. Typical glow in the dark stuff but not really worth the price if you ask me. There are much better books out there with better story lines.
