This book is awkward. It's written like a play with dad, mom, son, and daughter characters. I can't imagine passing this around and reading it with my daughter. The information is good from a biblical perspective but the format is so awkward. Also, there's a lot of reference about how great sex feels to the point where if I was a kid, I would be beyond curious and probably tipped over to the point of wanting to try it out. Which, isn't the point the book is trying to make as it makes it clear that it is something married people only should practice. My wife and I both read this and felt the same way -- that the way how it feels is approached would be more likely to drive a kid to early experimentation than abstinence.

I was dreading having "the talk" with my 9 year old daughter, but she was making comments about sex that I, and only I, her mother, could address.I bought this book because I wanted to have a meaningful, Christ-honoring discussion about the gift of sex and our bodies. This book was truly wonderful. The scripted conversations included in each chapter were SO useful and actually fun. You may be thinking, scripts? How unoriginal and stale. But this was not the case for us. The scripts were a fun and warm way to indirectly address some sensitive topics, as well as basic human sexuality.By the time we finished the book, my daughter and I had made some fond memories of her learning about some of life's most precious gifts in a safe and God-honoring environment. She feels more informed and I am relieved that she now has the right knowledge to look forward to future dating and hopefully a marital relationship!

In my opinion, portions of the book are not age appropriate and overly graphic. But if some of the content is "TMI," you can always tear out the pages, save them for later, etc. However, there were a couple of issues I had with this book that really turned me away from it.1. I did not like the format. What kid asks their parent if they have sex and how many times? Really? I find that highly "cringe worthy."2. Chapter on AIDS seemed unnecessary at this point.3. The constant references to sexual activity being "pleasurable" were a bit too much for my taste..And it is a running theme throughout this and the next book in the series. For example, this book talks about how wonderful the wife's private parts feel to the man and vice versa (in more graphic language), and how these organs are highly sensitive to pleasure, etc. I am sorry, but I am not comfortable discussing the clitoris with my nine year-old. Why is this necessary information for a child this age?You be the judge. I am returning it in search for something a little more tactful.

I have all 4 books (The Story of Me, Before I Was Born, What's the Big Deal, and Facing the Facts) I have a 12, 10, and 5 year old. I have read books 1 & 2 to all 3 children. I gave my older child book 3 to read himself and will give him book 4 when I feel he is ready. I like knowing I am giving them the tools they need to live in this world. I looked through many books before deciding on this set. I am happy with these 4 books and recommend them if you are looking for information based on Christian beliefs.

All the things you want to tell your child but don't know how!! The book is written in a dialogue form between a brother and sister and their parents. I read the parents' lines and my daughter read the children's lines. A lot of times I was cringing inside and grinding my teeth because it was difficult for me to read, but I glad the book wrote everything out for me! Highly recommended to any parent! I read this to my daughter when she was 9. My son, on the other hand, I probably will not read it to him until he is 11!

Outstanding. I am going through it with my 10-13 year old kids. Very useful. Great focus on God and the fact that sex is HIS creation and it is to be a fun, joyful, blessed activity IF done in a way that honors God.

I think the age range is a little young for this book. I would wait until my kids are 10 before reading level 3 with them. But, great book and much needed!

So glad this book is in the world - and in my world. Such a positive treatment of the beautiful as well as the risky facts about sexual activities.
