My nieces have taken an interest in yoga like their Auntie and I wanted to find them a book that is age appropriate. This books really offers everything I'd want in beginner book of yoga for a "tween" girls. I wish there was a bit more step by step in there regarding the postures, but the book also discusses self-confidence, being kind to ourselves and others and the other practices of a well rounded yoga practice.
I purchased this book for my 9 year old niece & she loved it. She looked through it several times before her first yoga class, with myself & her Mom in tow. She loved the class and I believe the book helped her understand what would be happening. This isn't meant to be a be all end all yoga book but rather a very nicely done introduction.
I enjoyed reading this book after I started yoga as an adult. My sister's granddaughter loaned it to me. Easy and informative for any little yoga person.
I had read other books in this series and loved them so I'm buying as many titles as I can find. This book was easy to read and beautiful to look at and it's a wonderful addition to my children's library as well as useful even for me. I'm a beginning yogini and this book gave me a good, simple start.

I am an elementary teacher and I bought this book for my students. It never stays on the shelf for long. It is well loved with many dog-eared pages.
This book is an excellent one for teens and tweens who are brand-new to yoga. It gives a nice overview, though very high-level, as to what yoga is all about and weaves in quotes from real girls who have discovered the wonderful benefits of yoga. If you're interested in a complete physical practice, with details on the poses and modifications, this book is not the one for you. But it does give several small sequences that you can incorporate into each day that don't take up too much of your time.
I LOVE this book! The language is spot-on for girls--there's no "dumbing down" here, yet the core teachings of yoga aren't glossed over either. The package is tons of fun, with amazing, colourful illustrations of real girls and easy-to-follow instructions for each yoga pose. I highly recommend it--especially for girls who might want to begin a yoga practice but aren't sure they want to take a class with a "bunch of women."If you're a mom with a preteen / teenage daughter, it's a great way to learn about yoga together.
